JEE Main 2022Heights and Distances Question with Solution

JEE Main 2022 (29 Jun Shift 2)

Question

From the base of a pole of height 20 meter, the angle of elevation of the top of a tower is 60°. The pole subtends an angle 30° at the top of the tower. Then the height of the tower is:

Choose an option

Correct answer
D30

Step-by-step explanation

Plotting the diagram we get,

In ABD

tan60°=20+yx     ...i

In AEC

tan30°=yx    ...ii

From equation (i) & (ii),(i) (ii)  we get, tan60°tan30°=20+yy31/3=20+yy

20+yy=3y=10

So, height of tower =20+y=30 m
