JEE Main 2020Ray Optics Question with Solution

JEE Main 2020 (06 Sep Shift 1)

Question

A point like object is placed at distance of 1m in front of a convex lens of focal length 0.5m. A plane mirror is placed at a distance of 2m behind the lens. The position and nature of the image formed by the system is

Choose an option

Show full solutionCorrect option: D
Correct answer
D2.6m from the mirror, virtual

Step-by-step explanation

For I1 applying lens formula

1v1-1-1=10.5

v1=1

For I2 applying condition of plane mirror

for final image (I3) again applying lens formula

1v3-1-3=10.5

v2=35

The distance of final image from mirror

D=35+3

D=2.6

The image will be real (but it is given virtual in answer)
