JEE Main 2023 — Gravitation Question with Solution
JEE Main 2023 (31 Jan Shift 1)
Question
Spherical insulating ball and a spherical metallic ball of same size and mass are dropped from the same height. Choose the correct statement out of the following {Assume negligible air friction}
Choose an option
Show full solutionCorrect option: B
Step-by-step explanation
When a spherical insulating ball and a spherical metallic ball of same size and mass are dropped from the same height, then magnetic field will act on metallic ball. If the earth's magnetic field is taken into account, then an induced eddy current will form inside the spherical metallic ball, thus retarding its motion. Hence, it will take more time than insulating ball.
