Question

Let the plane P:8x+α1y+α2z+12=0 be parallel to the line L:x+22=y-33=z+45. If the intercept of P on the y-axis is 1 , then the distance between P and L is

Correct answer
D14

Step-by-step explanation

Given,

The plane P:8x+α1y+α2z+12=0 be parallel to the line L:x+22=y-33=z+45 and the intercept of P on the y-axis is 1,

Now normal of the plane will be perpendicular to the given line, so by perpendicular condition we get,

8×2+3α1+5α2=0          1

For Y intercept of plane put x=z=0 in equation of plane

y=-12α1=1α1=-12

Put α1 in equation 1 we get α2=4

Hence, equation of plane P: 2 x-3 y+z+3=0

Now distance of point A-2,3,-4 from the plane P is =2-2-33-4+322+-32+12=14.
