Thus, if there are n observations (variates) x1, x2, x3, , xn arranged in ascending or descending order, then

median =n+12th observation, if n is odd

and median =n2 th observation +n2+1 th observation 2, if n is even.

Here we can see there are even number of terms,

So, median =2k+122=k+6

Mean deviation =xi-Mn=6

k+3+k+1+k-1+6-k+6-k+10-k+15-k+18-k8=6

 58-2k8=6

k=5

So, median =2×5+122=11
