JEE Main 2024 (31 Jan Shift 2)

Question

Let 2nd, 8th and 44th, terms of a non-constant A.P. be respectively the 1st, 2nd and 3rd terms of G.P. If the first term of A.P. is 1 then the sum of first 20 terms is equal to-

Correct answer
D970

Step-by-step explanation

Given: 2nd, 8th, 44th terms of A.P are 1st, 2nd & 3rd terms respectively of G.P.

And first term of A.P. is 1 and let d be common difference

So, 1+d, 1+7d, 1+43d are 1st, 2nd & 3rd term of G.P.

1+7d1+d=1+43d1+7d

1+7d2=1+43d1+d

1+49d2+14d=1+43d2+44d

6d2=30d

d=5

Now finding the sum of first 20 terms of AP,

S20=102×1+19×5

S20=970
