Let px be a quadratic polynomial such that p0=1. If px leaves remainder 4 when divided by x-1 and it leaves remainder 6 when divided by x+1 then:

 Assume , px=ax2+bx+c

Given , p0=1⇒c=1

Now,p1=4p-1=6

a+b+c =4a-b+ c=6⇒a+b+1 =4a-b+1=6 a+b =3a-b=5 ⇒   a=4      b=-1

px=4x2-x+1

p-2=16+2+1=19
